lyrics

He looked out of the darkness and perceived that there was light
Hidden from this midnight Eden, locked within a Russian doll
And nothing but pure trickery would serve to set it free
So he resolved to find it, went drifting slowly down to earth

Behind a simple temple wall, where children run and fathers call
Our hero-villain spiralled in, the oldest of the boss’s kin
And though he had a hawkish eye, still his father loved him well
And gave to him a silver key that would unlock the brightest hell

Imagine this, I ask you dear-listener to contemplate
The way the fate of simple men is governed by sheer accident
As such our hero found his prize and, much bedazzled, threw it skyward
Demons are discomfited, the rest of us ‘O Happy Day!’
