about

The lights are on
And we have made pretty things
And have such thoroughly modern Art and voices See – we made the telegraph most obsolete
And traced lines upon the globe To give us rapid joy Bugatti space race flying bombs Clark Gable and his Rolling Stones Sci-Fi Lo-Fi
Wi-Fi
The blast of science That is technicolour for a miracle age Pouring out of brilliant wasteful magic This conscience of the future Without sentiment or Dancing electric wires Gives tracked momentum to the Half-cooked madness Of not quite atomised
And forgotten devastation Faulty gases and oven doors Fences and dodgy taps
And random heating
And ugly seating
And colours by de Sade
And stuff in the yard

That is both dangerous and unexplained (and don’t forget the shitty drains)

The Brains Trust can remove the rust That brushed up with the languid desert dust As bread falls to the floor
And the last teacher in the land between the rivers Dolefully declares - I lived that life when I was Not just poor
Frankly We don’t need this nonsense
Any more
